The Instant Keys GPS device is the telematics device we use to automatically switch between KOBA and Car Next Door to distinguish when your car is used for personal use. Car Next Door will send this to you when you order their "Instant Keys" kit. Keep an eye out for a delivery email from them, or contact them directly for any specific queries.
Why have I been charged KM?
The KOBA policy requires that data is sent from the GPS device to the KOBA App so that we can accurately reconcile the number of KM travelled for your driving premium. Without the GPS device plugged in, we don't know how many KM you've travelled.
If your cover has started and you haven't yet received your GPS device yet, we use the estimated annual usage you told us when you took out your policy to charge your Driving premium until your vehicle data is activated.
If you buy your policy in advance and already have your GPS device plugged in, or plug it in before your cover has started, don't worry, we won't charge any KM until your cover actually starts.
Heads-up //
When you first sign up to KOBA, you have 14 days to receive and plug in your GPS device so it begins transmitting a signal. If we don't receive a connection from your device, within 14 days by default, your policy will charge you the maximum daily amount (250 km/day). If you think this is a mistake, please get in touch and we'll look to update these charges.
Please make sure you have the GPS device plugged in and connected by the 21st day; otherwise you may be at risk for automatic cancellation.
